BBRT launches a new series of research papers - INSIGHTS
This month BBRT started circulating to its members the latest series of research papers - the INSIGHTS series. The purpose of this series of papers is to provide a number of insights that will help the BBRT members to answer many difficult questions that would otherwise prevent them from making progress in implementing the Beyond Budgeting principles and introducing a new management model for the innovation age.

Insight 1: Towards a new management model for the innovation age
Abstract: The world is becoming less predictable yet most of our organizations assume they can plan and control their way to the future. We are also moving from the ‘industrial’ to a new ‘innovation’ age in which firms will need to find new ways to grow. Innovation and speed will become the major critical success factors. These changes will challenge how leaders think about change, especially how their mental models of how organizations work and how management models need to seamlessly join together. This paper examines these changes and how organizations need to move toward a new coherent ‘innovation’ management model.

"Reinventing the CFO"

Earlier this year Jeremy Hope, a co-founder of the BBRT published a new book "Reinventing the CFO: How financial managers can transform their roles and add greater value". The Beyond Budgeting principles will result in major changes in the finance function. In his book Jeremy picks up on this theme and contends that it's time to liberate CFOs from their number-crunching philosophies, so that they can lead managers across their organizations to elevate performance. This book builds on a series of interviews with Finance Leaders in many organizations (these interviews were circulated to BBRT members as the Finance Leadership Interview Series).

The book is published by Harvard Business School Press
